Than Johnson, MA, LPCC

As an LPCC, my goal is to provide my clients with trust, honesty, autonomy, and the safety to express themselves in session. I work towards and celebrate incremental change and like to use a collaborative approach with clients to develop goals for therapy and potential challenges along the way.
As a clinician, I think a lot about thinking. I focus on how we conceive of ourselves and the world around us, how this thinking affects our daily lives and relationships, and what we can do to change the way we think. In addition to CBT, I also utilize different forms of Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness techniques to provide my clients with different tools they can use outside of our sessions.
In the past I have treated clients with depression, anxiety, substance use issues, grief, and compulsive behaviors, and others just having a hard time adjusting to new life circumstances. My goal is to always treat clients with compassion, dignity and understanding while firmly believing in their ability to make changes on their own.
When I’m not at work you can find me listening to or playing music, playing in the mountains, or spending time with my dog.
