Side by side, I will guide you through the bumps of your life’s journey. I will help you to recognize your feelings and how those feelings impact your thoughts and actions. Together, we will identify your strengths and therefore empower you to create action steps to improve your overall wellness. I will cultivate a balance between holding you accountable while respectfully supporting you in your needs.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and have a BSW and an MA in Community Counseling. In my 19 years as an LPC, I have had the opportunity to work with many different populations, including children and families through community mental health; juvenile justice; medical social work (with adults); and outpatient work with adults. My therapy style includes being trauma sensitive; using evidence based practices, such as person-centered therapy, restorative practices, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques; and using hands-on, developmentally appropriate creative strategies such as games and sand play to engage children. In my practice, I focus on working with children and families; and with clients who experience Depression and/or Anxiety or struggles with life stressors.
I have received the Jefferson Center for Mental Health Sterling Silver Award (nominated by colleagues) and the Jefferson Center for Mental Health Resiliency Award (nominated by families).
Life experiences that have impacted my practice include international travel and local volunteer opportunities. These experiences have afforded me the privilege to relate with others, which speaks to my core values: connectedness, relatability, simplicity, and compassion. I look forward to being able to connect with you wherever you are in your journey.
